Loyola Jesuit Center, in addition to housing the Jesuit Provincial Offices, is also home to the Colombiere Jesuit Community. The Jesuits who live on campus work in a variety of ministries, including St. Ignatius Parish, St. Andrew's Nativity School, and the Provincial Offices.
The LJC site in southeast Portland has housed Jesuits since 1910, when the first Provincial Office was built next to St. Ignatius Church. After 1946, when the Provincial headquarters were relocated to northwest Portland, the Loyola grounds were used for retreats until Loyola Retreat House was closed in 1999. The newly-built Loyola Jesuit Center opened in January, 2003.
At the heart of the campus is the Chapel of the Holy Trinity at La Storta. Dedicated to the mystical vision revealed to St. Ignatius on the outskirts of Rome, the light and spacious structure overlooks three acres of gardens, lawn and giant spruce, cedar and sequoia trees and is open daily for all who seek a place of quiet for prayer and meditation.
Adjoining the Chapel is the Maria della Strada Conference Center. Built to accommodate 50 persons, the Conference Center hosts meetings of Jesuits from around the U.S., as well as Catholic schools, parishes and leadership conferences from Portland and the Pacific Northwest.
Rodriguez House, named after the Jesuit saint, Brother Alphonsus Rodriguez, welcomes overnight Jesuits and Jesuit sponsored guests to the Center. In addition to the 15 bedrooms with baths, Rodriguez House also has a living room and library, with kitchen and laundry facilities.

Colombiere House, besides serving as the private residence for the Jesuits living on campus, also contains the Colombiere Dining Rooms for the entire campus. Meals for Jesuits and their guests are prepared and served by a chef and professional kitchen staff.
At the east end of the campus are the Jesuit Provincial Offices, headquarters not only for the Provincial and his staff but the Jesuit Development Office as well. Parking is available off 45th Avenue for anyone visiting these offices.
The Loyola Jesuit Center is a peaceful and quiet refuge in the midst of a bustling neighborhood, a short 15-minute drive from downtown Portland. Its comfortable and hospitable buildings call to mind the simple beauty and natural elegance of the Pacific Northwest. Visitors are always welcome. For those seeking overnight accommodations, reservations can be made by contacting the LJC Manager, either by phoning 503-595-1941, or by Email.
